MY CREATIVE WAVES

When waves pass over you, it feels like you're flying!

 

I'd spend all day in the ocean as a kid, playing in the surf, finding strange creatures in seagrass, it was pure magic! My Grandmother would wade in the shallows with me, identifying all the sea life I'd found as she picked up pieces of plastic, styrofoam... anything man-made the tide had brought in that day. With a setting sun on our backs, hands full from beach cleanup, we'd make our way home, careful not to lose a shoe in the thick mud by the mangroves close to shore.

 

Clean and on dry land, we'd make creations from all the randomness gathered. It became somewhat of a tradition over the years. When it came time to divi up the days' finds... cousins, aunts, uncles, even my older sister couldn't resist joining in the fun. The best pieces of styrofoam were prized construction material, coveted. Taking my Uncle Willy's lead, I'd build seaworthy sailboats, each pass better than the next. New champions were crowned every evening just before dinner!

 

Somehow my Grandmother effortlessly made a fun game out of beach cleanup... But my favorite game of all was one she called "Scribbles".

 

After dinner, she would find random pieces of paper (envelopes, napkins) and scratch out a quick scribble for each of us. The rules of the game were simple: 1.)  Make something out of the scribble   2.)  Make your marks & lines clean  3.)  Defend your creation. We'd all have 5 minutes to create our masterpieces, a brilliant way to quiet a table of unruly kids. She always liked to morph her scribble into a simple but elegant swan... me, I'd make WAVES!

 

WAVES carry the energy of our UNIVERSE.

The raw spirit of the universe is pure magic. Bodysurfing under the sun, making creations from whatever the ocean brought in that day, dreaming up masterpieces from Scribbles... I'm thankful for lessons learned bathed in water and sunlight.  As we grow and travel far from home, let these WAVES be your guide to a universe of balance and opportunity.

 

My Grandmother taught us that respect of all life on Earth, hard work, and an individuals responsibility to its stewardship was everything. In honor of her inspiration, and for all those that share the ideals that we must protect our most precious resources... a % of each sale will be donated to established charities dedicated to clean water & healthy ocean environments.
